Giving back has always been part of who we are.
Since 1956, when Harry O’Hare founded the company, service and generosity have been at the heart of our culture. From supporting local causes to investing in the future of our industry, we’re proud to make a meaningful impact.
Kids 360 is a nonprofit entity created by JOH. The vision of giving back to the community was woven into the fabric of JOH by the founder, Harry O’Hare. Harry spent a lifetime giving back to those in need. It is this inspiration that launched the concept of Kids 360.
Each year, JOH holds its Annual Kids 360 Charity Event. Clients, customers and associates join together for a day of golf, networking and fun at Woodland Golf Club in Auburndale, MA to raise money for Kids 360. To date, Kids 360 has donated over $900,000 to children’s charities. Visit Kids360charity.org for more information.
NextUp is a powerful community advancing women in the workplace. In 2003, JOH’s own Bobbie O’Hare launched the New England chapter to support women in the male-dominated food brokerage industry. Her leadership helped establish 15 of the organization’s 20 chapters nationwide. Today, NextUp continues to grow with many talented JOH’ers stepping into leadership roles and carrying the mission forward. We’re proud to support progress, opportunity and the next generation of leaders.
JOH is proud to support The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), the largest hunger-relief organization in New England. GBFB distributes millions of pounds of nutritious food each year to individuals and families across Eastern Massachusetts. JOH contributes time, effort and resources to help further their mission. Matt O’Hare also serves on GBFB’s Food Industry Committee, offering guidance from the food brokerage community. We’re honored to play a part in helping our neighbors live healthier, more nourished lives.
In 1961, Harry O’Hare Sr. co-founded what is now the New England Food Foundation (NEFF), a leading food industry charity dedicated to supporting children in need. NEFF’s primary initiative is the Cape House in Sandwich MA, a lakeside retreat offering free vacations to qualifying children from New England. Many JOH team members have served in leadership roles within NEFF and JOH continues to coordinate donations of non-perishable goods from our clients, upholding our commitment to community support.
We’re proud to partner with the Children’s Cancer Foundation, an independent nonprofit dedicated to funding critical pediatric cancer research and programs. JOH’s Pete Legambi serves on the Board of Directors, helping guide the Foundation’s efforts to improve treatment, care and outcomes for children battling cancer. We are honored to support this incredible organization and its mission to bring hope and healing to families in need.
Since 2009, JOH has proudly partnered with Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School in Methuen, MA, welcoming six students each year to work in our Billerica, MA office through their Corporate Work Study Program. These students gain real-world experience, their own desks and mentorship from our team, all while earning tuition support. It’s more than work; it’s a chance to grow, learn and build a brighter future together.
Each year, our JOH Upstate team proudly supports the South Buffalo Community Table by helping stock their pantry with groceries for the year. This vital organization provides over 1,000 hot meals a month to individuals and families in the Buffalo area. We’re honored to play a small role in their mission to nourish the community and grateful for the opportunity to support the neighbors and neighborhoods that mean so much to us.
